Kristen A. Wadiak is an associate attorney in the law firm of Beatty and Motil. A native of Southern Illinois, she was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, and raised in Carbondale, Illinois. Upon graduating from Carbondale Community High School, Ms. Wadiak attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana for her undergraduate studies. She graduated in three and a half years with a double major in political science and sociology, as well as being awarded with the honor of "distinction in sociology."
Following graduation, Ms. Wadiak attended the Saint Louis University School of Law, where she was actively involved in the Women's Law Students Association, Phi Alpha Delta, and the Health Law Association. She also served as an officer in the Sports Law and Entertainment Association. During her first and second years of law school, Ms. Wadiak volunteered her time at St. Louis City Court Appointed Special Advocates as a guardian ad litem for abused and neglected children. Ms. Wadiak actively pursued her Health Law Certificate from Saint Louis University School of Law and was awarded the certificate upon graduation. U.S. News & World Report ranked the Health Law Program at Saint Louis University #1 in the country.
Ms. Wadiak interned at the Madison County State's Attorney's office prosecuting a wide variety of criminal charges, including domestic battery, driving under the influence, misdemeanor, and traffic. During this time, Ms. Wadiak gained jury trial experience in her prosecution of a domestic battery defendant. She uses the skills she developed while in this position to now represent defendants in criminal cases.
Ms. Wadiak also previously represented coal miners diagnosed with coal workers pneumoconiosis in litigation against the manufacturers of respirators, as well as individuals in workers' compensation cases and individuals charged with crimes. At Beatty & Motil, Ms. Wadiak concentrates her practice in representing individuals in the fields of workers' compensation, personal injury litigation, social security disability, and criminal defense.
Ms. Wadiak is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Missouri. Her professional memberships include the Illinois State Bar Association, Madison County Bar Association, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and Worker's Injury Law and Advocacy Group. In addition to these memberships, she currently serves on the Illinois State Bar Association's Worker's Compensation Law Section Council.
