William S. Beatty is a partner in the law firm of Beatty & Motil. Mr. Beatty is a native of East St. Louis, Illinois and grew up in Granite City, Illinois. After graduating from Assumption High School in 1969, Mr. Beatty attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, graduating in 1973 with a B.A. While attending "Mizzou", Mr. Beatty was a member of the swimming team and the varsity "M" Club. Following graduation, Mr. Beatty enrolled in the School of Law at St. Louis University, graduating and receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1976.

Since 1976, Mr. Beatty has been engaged in the general practice of law, with emphasis in the fields of personal injury and workers' compensation. He has provided legal representation to numerous clients who have sustained injuries through accidents or while on the job. Much of his work has dealt with members of the building trade unions, including boilermakers, laborers, teamsters and ironworkers. In conjunction with this representation of injured parties, Mr. Beatty has tried cases in Madison County (Third Judicial Circuit) and St. Clair County (Twentieth Judicial Circuit), Illinois, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

Also in connection with Mr. Beatty's workers' compensation practice, he has tried many cases before the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission and the Missouri Division of Workers' Compensation. Mr. Beatty regularly appears in workers' compensation matters in southern Illinois and eastern and southeastern Missouri.

Mr. Beatty has also appeared and handled appeals before the Appellate Court of the State of Illinois, Fifth District, and the Illinois Supreme Court. He has argued appeals before the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission and the Missouri Industrial Commission.

Mr. Beatty's practice also encompasses claims for social security disability filed before the Office of Hearings and Appeals of the Social Security Administration. He has appeared before Administrative Law Judges in St. Louis, Missouri, and Evansville, Indiana, and has also handled appeals to the Appeals Council of the Social Security Administration and to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

Mr. Beatty also concentrates a significant portion of his practice in connection with Housing and Development Law, serving as general counsel for the Madison County Housing Authority.

His professional memberships include the Illinois State Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the Bar Association of the Central and Southern Federal District Courts of Illinois. He is a member of and past President of both the Madison County Bar Association and the Tri-City Bar Association.

In addition to Mr. Beatty's professional memberships, he has served on various boards and committees. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the Village of Maryville, Illinois.

Mr. Beatty has devoted his legal career to protect the rights of injured persons. His practice has followed that of his father, the late Hon. William L. Beatty, who began his practice in Granite City in 1951. Prior to taking the judicial bench in 1968, Judge Beatty represented injured workers and victims of accidents, and also served many members of the building trades, including members of Laborers' Local 397 and Ironworkers' Local 392. William S. Beatty has continued the tradition of his father, and takes pride in the family history which has served the public for over 50 years.
